Fen curves around east and south portions of the lake. Many "No Trespassing" signs posted. Mostly herbaceous Cyperaceae with shrubs on borders. Actively maintained by The Nature Conservancy. Fay Lake Road borders on east and south side fo fen. On thin finger of fen NE of lake, less than 10m from Fay Lake Road to the east, and the lake is 15m to the west. Brush pile 5m west. The ground is squishy and moist. Standing water in area. Dominant vegetation is Schoenoplectus and marsh ferns.
Population - 1-2 individuals per 1m2 area, not very dominant in surrounding area. Found on wet ground, near marsh ferns and Schoenoplectus. Young twigs are green with fine hairs.
