Locality: United States, South Carolina, Lexington, United States: South Carolina: Lexington County. Abundant. Small tree 2m tall. Shaded, moist area on south bank of Saluda River. Other trees and shrubs include Hamamelis virginiana, Sambucus canadensis, Euonymus americanus, and Ostrya virginiana. Riverbanks Botanical Gardens, 1300 Botanical Parkway, Cayce. 2.5 miles W. of intersection of US 378 (Sunset Blvd.) and SC 12 (Meeting St.), turn NW off of US 378 onto Botanical Parkway; 34.0059°N, 81.0723°W - Columbia North topo quad. Elev 180ft.
