Perennial with fleshy root. Ligules yellow. Achenes mostly imm. Beaks, present on all achenes, were fully developed in but few of the palnts. Scapes light green, hollow, thickened upward. Phyllaries and tiny lvs. of stems similarly green, with red-purple margins and tips. Some phyllaries short-ciliate at tips.
